(Matthew Good Band - The Future Is X-Rated)

It's a gray, rainy morniny, which in the middle of July is like mana from fucking heaven. It's so nice to these eyes that I spent a little extra time at home this morning before work just lounging around and reading recently unearthed copies of the brilliant Flying Monkey Comics.

(The The - Heartland)

The living room AC unit breathed its last breath on Tuesday evening, which meant two or three days with the entire house ultra hot, save for the bedroom, which has its own (thankfully still functioning) AC. But yes, apparently at some point yesterday afternoon, someone came along and installed a new unit in the living room. Well, it may not be brand new, but it at least appears to have been manufactured in this decade, as opposed to the frighteningly ancient one that preceded it. But yes, it's very nice to finally feel comfortable again in the front half of the apartment.

(Josh Rouse - Women And Men)

Met up with Ryan S after work yesterday, we went to the pub in Belleville that was our summertime beer drinking, burger and pizza eating, quiz playing, baseball watching home for so long. They've sadly removed most of my favorite beers from the tap (no Newcastle or Bass??), but a pint of Harp did hit the spot nonetheless. So yeah, it was a nice time just having a few leisurely drinks, eating some dinner and doing trivia.

(Elvis Costello - Man Out Of Time)

This weekend, Erin and I are driving up to Chicago to hang out with my friend Bill, who's flying all the way in from Edinburgh too see a few bands at this music festival. That's my good friend Bill, he of sending me hard to come across Manics stuff, he who was so kind as to let me crash at his house for a week when I was in Scotland, not to mention playing tour guide, taking me to the football (go Hibs!), introducing me to his mates and family, and escorting me on the best pub crawl(s) of my life. Oh that Caledonian ale! He was just incredibly generous all around, and he's been a great friend all these years. So yes, I'm quite looking forward to seeing him for the first time in a year and a half. It's also his first time in the States ever, so that should also be cool. Chicago in summer + outdoor tunes + people on the prowl for beers = great fun.

(The Coral - Dreaming Of You)

I can hear the rumble of thunder even as I sit here in my cube in the interior of the building. This is going to be a good day.
