rain rain rain, home home home, again again again

NP: Deacon Blue - "Raintown"

Sunday morning and apparently people in the next apartment feel this is the best time to saw pieces of wood and to hammer dozens of nails into the wall. Yelling children through the walls of another neighboring apartment. Car registration renewal paperwork in the backlog of snail mail this morning. Welcome back to the real world.

I now have headphones on, I can't deal with this barrage of noise, not right now anyway.

Starting my new work assignment tomorrow morning, and I'm pretty much past any apprehension stage and am now ready to get on with it and do an impressive, bang up job. Still wish I wasn't being put into that cube, though!

Kansas City wedding trip was a blast. The St. Louis/KC drive is far less painful than I remember it being. Very nice to see Missy and Adam -- I know they're Erin's friends but they're so friendly to me, as well, it's really nice. The ceremony itself was short but sweet, great reception in an Italian restaurant, and had a fun time hanging out with everyone over the two and a half days. Missy's parents put Erin and myself up in a nice hotel, which was unexpected and supremely generous. Seriously, just everyone -- the bride and groom, their families, their friends (who I'd never met before but were all really fun and cool) -- was super welcoming and made the weekend a great time. Oh, and Erin and I stopped at a casino in Booneville, MO (where?) on the way home and played an hour and change of nickel slots. Silly, I know, but their Attack Parrot interstate billboard advertising sucked us in. Listened to tunes and had lots of great conversation in the car all the way home. Very nice to get home last night, even if were only gone two and a half days.

I have a few pictures I need to put up on the fotolog, but that will have to wait for later.

Despite the fact that it's almost noon, I think it's time for another cup of coffee. Actually, it's not at all too late for more coffee. It's still fairly early, and it's not like I plan on doing much besides lazing about today.
