nothing gives me pleasure like you do

The wonderful Julie's latest entry planted this list-centric seed. Apologies for the lack of real entry, but this sounds attractive this morning. Without further ado, things that I like...

- Watching planes take off and land, wondering who's on each one, and where it's going or coming from.

- Mornings where I'm the first one in the lab at work, and everything is silent, except for the hum of the server that sits just over one of my cubicle walls.

- Erin's smile. And her eyes. And her voice. And her...wait, this could be an entry by itself. I'd better focus.

- The exhilaration of walking out the door at the end of the work day, and then just getting in the car, rolling down the windows, and driving away as fast as you can.

- Storms. Especially ones with spectacular lightning and enough rain that you can hear it against the windows or coming down on the roof of your building.

- A solid, competetive, sweat-inducing tennis match with my dad.

- Indian food.

- Sitting at my grandparents' house on a sunny afternoon after they've come back from a trip, drinking a soda (and setting it on those metal coasters they've always had), listening to their stories and just catching up.

- Photographs.

- Waking up on your own, before the alarm goes off, and realizing that you still have another couple of hours to sleep.

- old-school NES gaming...Tetris and Super Mario Bros. 3, please.

- Falling asleep with my arms curled around Erin.

- Payday.

- Taking a day off work, waking up around 11 o'clock in the morning, and realizing that everyone but you is stuck in their normal routine, and have already had to be up for about 4 hours.

- Starry nights.

- Overcast days.

- Driving around, exploring.

- the way LPs sound...noticably imperfect, yet inviting.

- Getting overseas mail, and noticing the foreign but interesting stamps, cancellation marks, and postal codes.

- Walking into department-store grade air conditioning after being out in a hot, humid, sweaty midwestern summer afternoon.

- Sleeping with the windows open on a cool spring night.

- Music. All of it.

- Giving gifts.

- Receiving a gift, no matter how big or small, that shows real, honest thought was put into obtaining and giving it.

- Coffee.

- Diners, especially after about 9 or 10 o'clock at night.

- Cities. Skylines. Subways.

- Weekend mornings spent sleeping in, lounging around in pajamas, drinking coffee, talking, listening to music, and reading the paper.

- Taking my dog for a walk.

- Comic strips. Especially something as biting, intelligent, and/or honest as "Calvin and Hobbes" or "Life in Hell".

- A Cardinals game at Busch Stadium, on a warm summer evening, with a beer, bag of peanuts, and flip-flops on.

- Chopsticks.

- Schnucks, whether it's actually grocery shopping, or just wandering around in the middle of the night.

- Reading. Language. Conversation. Words.

- Erin's handwriting.

- black Pilot Precise pens.

- new release day at Vintage Vinyl.

- Erin. Just every single thing about her. See, I knew I wouldn't be able to focus...my mind always comes back to her.

There's more stuff where this came from, but yeah... I hope things are good for you.
