9-19-04 // 5.56 pm brighten my northern sky NP: Nick Drake - "Bryter Later" Lazy late Sunday afternoon, watching the sun and the day fade away in the most glorious, affirming manner I could imagine. The trees across the way are beginning to turn every so slightly orange and brown, and the low light of summer's end is setting them on fire. It's doing the same to the red brick of the buildings ringing the courtyard, drawing the fierce color out of everything the light hits, and draping shadows over the rest. It's important to savor a slow moment now and then, I think. The world moves too quickly most of the time -- sometimes I get a thrill simply by being allowed to watch the path of the sun move shadows across a hill.
